The County Long
Range Planning Department is primarily responsible for the on going development
and implementation of the York County Comprehensive Plan. The County
Comprehensive Plan creates a vision of what York County will be in the future.
This vision is based on information provided by the municipalities and other
agencies, as well as citizen feedback provided through public meetings. It is
largely through cooperation between the County and the local municipalities that
the goals and objectives of the York County Comprehensive Plan will be achieved.
Services provided by the County Long Range Planning Department include:

Review of
Municipal Comprehensive Plans

Review of Sewage Facility Plans

Review of municipal activities regarding
consistency with the County Comprehensive Plan, including the opening or
vacating of streets; the construction, removal, or sale of public structures;
and the construction, extension, or abandonment of public water and sewer
lines and treatment facilities

Review of Official Maps

Review of Recreation Plans

Municipal Consulting Program - Working with
municipalities and other entities through participation in meetings, work
groups, organizations, and planning activities to achieve consistency between
local planning efforts and the York County Comprehensive Plan, provide a regional or county
perspective, and be a source of information. The primary goal being the
establishment of jointly agreed upon growth and rural areas
