The Information Systems (IS) Department is responsible for: database and mapping development, information requests, computer and network infrastructure maintenance, report and document creation, website maintenance and supporting the other divisions within the Planning Commission.
Along with those responsibilities, we also play an integral role in the development of a Countywide Geographic Information System (GIS). The GIS is a database of County information that can be displayed on maps of the County. The maps are created through a combination of Aerial Photography and vector data, such as tax maps, flood plains, roads, soils and many other layers. Mapping and analyses can be done through combining and overlaying data layers to help make smart decisions in the County.
