Base Realignment And Closure Commission
(BRAC)

The Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC) made a decision to move jobs from Monmouth, NJ to the Aberdeen Proving Grounds (APG) in Harford County, MD and to a lesser degree to Fort Meade, located between Baltimore and Washington.

Capitol Region Water Board

The Capital Region Water Board is a non-profit corporation incorporated for the purposes of improving public water management in the Capital Region of Pennsylvania (8 counties in lower Susq. Basin) and enhancing regional cooperation. Staff - John Seitz

Economic Plan Implementation Committee
(EPIC)

Economic Plan Implementation Committee - A joint effort between the York County Planning Commission and York County Economic Development Corporation to implement the York County Economic Development Plan through outreach, support, and assistance to municipalities and private/public economic development professionals. Lower Susquehanna Regional Committee

The Lower Susquehanna Regional Committee is the local body charged with the mission of the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership, which is dedicated to developing and sustaining the Greenway by connecting communities and enriching lives through enhanced recreation, healthy living, economic prosperity and environmental stewardship. The Lower Susquehanna Regional Committee is chaired by the Lancaster-York Heritage Region and has members representing organizations in Dauphin, Cumberland, Lancaster and York Counties. Mason Dixon Task Force

The Mason Dixon Task Force is a non-profit corporation formed by counties in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland to address water resources issues along the historic Mason Dixon Line. Created in 1965 in response to extreme drought conditions affecting the area at the time, the organization has evolved into a cooperative information exchange between and among these jurisdictions sharing watershed concerns of mutual interest. PA State Data Center Affiliate

The PA State Data Center is the Commonwealth’s official source of demographic and economic data. There is a statewide network of affiliates which include regional affiliates (County and regional planning agencies), small business development centers, State agencies and research institutions. The PA State Data Center also serves a liaison role with the US Census Bureau. Staff - Anne Walko

Pennsylvania Highlands

The Pennsylvania Highlands span 1.4 million acres and form an important statewide greenway which extends from South Mountain on the Maryland border across the state, to lands along the Delaware River. The Appalachian Mountain Club provides leadership on the Highlands Coalition, which includes more than 200 nonprofit, municipal, state and federal organizations working collaboratively to protect vitally important natural resources in the Highlands of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut. River Conservation Plan Advisory Committee

This advisory committee guides a watershed effort through The PA Rivers Conservation Program which has been developed to conserve and enhance river resources through preparation and accomplishment of locally initiated plans. Staff - John Seitz

South Mountain Partnership

The South Mountain Partnership is comprised of county planning agencies, conservancies and land trusts, state and local agencies ant others who have come together to advance the integrity and understanding of the South Mountain landscape, under the guidance of PA DCNR. By working together, the Partnership is coordinating conservation efforts to sustain a good quality of life for residents, to protect natural resources and to provide recreational opportunities for visitors. Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC) - Conowingo Pool Work Group

A stakeholder group under a SRBC project to proactively manage the Conowingo Pool, this group meets annually to utilize a developed computer model to run drought exercises affecting the Conowingo Pool. Staff - John Seitz

Smart Growth Coalition of York and
Adams Counties

The Smart Growth Coalition was conceptualized in 2006 with a mission to shape public policy in order to preserve those elements that make our communities great places in which to live. Membership includes a wide array of public and private sector agencies, including municipal representatives. The Coalition has developed a Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND) Handbook to educate municipal officials about this alternative residential development tool. Watershed Alliance of York

The Watershed Alliance of York (WAY) is a coalition of stakeholders committed to being innovative leaders encouraging watershed-based planning, restoration and protection, through locally led conservation, education and stewardship initiatives, in York County and beyond. Staff - John Seitz

York County Drought Advisory Committee

This Committee is an extension of York County’s Drought Task Force officially required to convene during drought declarations. The Drought Advisory Committee proactively meets for planning reasons during the timeframes when droughts are not a threat. Staff - John Seitz or Roy Livergood

York County Envirothon Planning Committee

The Envirothon is an interactive, hands-on competition designed to test a student's knowledge of these Pennsylvania natural resources: aquatics; current issues; forestry; soils; wildlife. This standards-based environmental science program emphasizes environmental sensitivity with social, ecological, and economic balance. The goal of the Envirothon is to provide our students with the tools they need to become responsible stewards of York County's agricultural and natural ecosystems. York County Planning Commission staff have participated on the Planning Committee, developing the Current Issues curriculum for 5-8 graders. Staff - John Seitz, Anne Walko or Lindsay Gerner

York County Parks Advisory Board

The York County Parks Advisory Board is nine-member volunteer board appointed by the York County Board of Commissioners to serve as a liaison between the Parks and the public. The public is encouraged to attend board meetings, held the fourth Tuesday of each month, at 7 p.m. at Pleasant Acres. Visit the York County Parks website for more information. Staff - Anne Walko

York County Zoning & Building Permit
Officials Association (YCZBPOA)

The YCZBPOA was created in 1985 to provide a forum for local zoning and building permit officials to discuss concerns and exchange information. Through bi-monthly meetings, the Association has provided a venue for officials to develop professional and personal relationships, learn from one another, and become more comfortable with their positions. In addition, there is a guest speaker at most meetings to present information on a topic of interest to the members. YCPC staff members regularly attend the meetings. Staff - Pam Shellenberger
